The Unofficial Official Steve Jobs Day

By Sudarshana Banerjee

“This Sunday will be Steve Jobs Day in the State of California,” tweeted the state’s governor, Edmund G. Brown or Jerry Brown. Apple is reportedly holding a closed-door private memorial service at the Stanford University campus on Sunday, an invitation-only event to be attended by the head honchos of the Valley, among other people. “A celebration of Steve’s extraordinary life for Apple employees” as the company’s CEO Tim Cook put it, is slated to take place later this month. Apple’s quarterly results announcements are also due this month, and will take place on October 18th.

Jerry Brown (Governor, State of California): Steve Jobs was a great California innovator who demonstrated what an independent and creative mind can accomplish.

So is October 16th  going to be Steve Jobs Day from now on, or not? Brown may have just been thinking out loud on Twitter. While the governor’s office released an official statement on October 5th  there is yet to be any official proclamation of October 16th going down in history as Steve Jobs Day. The last day Brown proclaimed was Native American Day, about a month ago.
