Google acquires big data solutions startup Cask

Google has acquired Palo Alto, California-based big data solutions startup Cask Data for an undisclosed sum. The announcement was made by Jonathan Gray and Nitin Motgi, founders of Cask, in a blog post on Wednesday. Financial terms of the deal were not shared.

Cask, which will now be part of the Google Cloud portfolio, says the company will continue to develop and release its flagship product, the open source Cask Data Application Platform (CDAP), after the acquisition.

Cask says it will continue to provide support for existing customers. CDAP will continue to be licensed under Apache 2.0., and will continue to support major Hadoop Distributions going forward, said the company.
