SendBird raises $16 million

SendBird, a provider of chat API and messaging SDK for in-app chat and messaging, has raised a $16 million Series A round. The investment was led by Shasta Ventures and August Capital, with participation from existing investors at Y Combinator and FundersClub.

SendBird is headquartered in Silicon Valley, with a Research and Development office and APAC branch in Seoul, Korea.

Doug Pepper, managing director at Shasta Ventures, and Villi Iltchev, partner at August Capital are joining SendBird’s board.
