Microsoft, Fujitsu forge strategic partnership; outline Uvance investment

Fujitsu and Microsoft have inked a five-year strategic alliance to accelerate their existing partnership. Both companies are investing in the growth of Fujitsu’s multibillion-dollar Uvance business, as part of the collaboration.

Fujitsu and Microsoft will develop and market Uvance solutions that combine Fujitsu’s industrial expertise in sectors such as manufacturing, retail, and healthcare, with Microsoft’s cloud platforms. In the investor briefing where this partnership was unveiled, Fujitsu named Microsoft a premier cloud partner as well.

As part of the collaboration, Microsoft and Fujitsu will collaborate to address sustainable and societal challenges in four specific areas:

  • Sustainable manufacturing: Leveraging Microsoft Cloud for Sustainability, Fujitsu aims to empower digital manufacturing sites to develop solutions for visualizing environmental change risks.
  • Consumer experience: Fujitsu will develop smart retail solutions to offer more sustainable, efficient shopping experiences.
  • Healthy living: With Microsoft cloud technology, Fujitsu intends to secure patient data, improve healthcare quality, and optimize medical institution operations.
  • Trusted society: Solutions will be delivered that ensure sustainability and resilience to global supply chain crises, say the companies.

Fujitsu will collaborate with Microsoft on skilling initiatives that will provide cloud sales and engineering training and certification for 28,000 employees over the next five years across all Fujitsu regions and all solution areas.
