Juniper Networks appoints new CTO

Juniper Networks has appointed Bikash Koley chief technology officer. Mr. Koley will be reporting to Rami Rahim, chief executive of the company. He will be responsible for charting Juniper’s technology strategy and for leading and executing several of the company’s critical technology innovations, including Contrail and AppFormix, said Juniper in a statement.

Mr. Koley is currently a Distinguished Engineer and the head of Network Architecture, Engineering and Planning at Google. Prior to Google, he was the CTO of Qstreams Networks, a company he co-founded. He also spent several years at Ciena in various technical roles, developing DWDM and Ethernet technologies.

Mr. Koley received a Bachelors in Technology for Electronics and Communications Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, India and MS and PhD degrees in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Maryland at College Park.
