Instacart acquires Unata

Online grocery delivery service Instacart has acquired Unata, a Toronto-based provider of white label digital grocery solutions. Financial terms of the deal was not disclosed.

Unata – whose headquarters will remain in Toronto – will become an independent subsidiary of Instacart, maintaining its name and brand, said Instacart in a statement. Chris Bryson, Unata’s chief executive, will remain in his current role. Mr. Bryson will report to Instacart’s chief business officer, Nilam Ganenthiran after the acquisition.

The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions.
