VeriFone Names Paul Galant CEO

VeriFone Background

VeriFone has appointed Paul Galant as CEO, and member of the board of directors.

Prior to joining VeriFone, Mr. Galant, 45, served as the CEO of Citigroup’s Enterprise Payments business since 2010. Before that, from 2009, Mr. Galant served as CEO of Citi Cards, heading Citigroup’s North American and International Consumer Credit Cards business. Before that, from 2007, he was CEO of Citi Transaction Services.

Previous positions before joining Citi were with Donaldson, Lufkin and Jenrette as global head of e-commerce, and head of Financial Engineering within Debt Capital Markets, and as president and founder of BTP Information Services.

Mr. Gallant holds a B.S. from Cornell University. He has served as chairman of the NY Federal Reserve Bank Payments Risk Committee, and chairman of  Clearing House Secure Digital Payments. He is an executive member on the NY Weill Cornell Medical Center Council.

IBM has announced an agreement with RIKEN, a Japanese national research laboratory, to deploy IBM's quantum computer architecture and quantum processor at the RIKEN Center for Computational Science in Kobe, Japan.
