Urban Airship Raises $15.1 Million Series C Funding

Urban Airship has raised $15.1 million in Series C funding. Strategic investors including and Verizon participated in the round, along with existing investors Foundry Group and True Ventures. The investment brings the total raised by Urban Airship to $21.6 million, and follows on the heels of the company’s acquisition of SimpleGeo.

The new capital, combined with the acquisition of SimpleGeo, puts Urban Airship in the position to offer a complete mobile engagement platform – including a scalable infrastructure and range of tools and services. Push notifications, in-app purchasing, subscriptions, context and geo-location will come together on a single platform, enabling developers to build a new class of apps.

The Urban Airship platform is the engagement and monetization engine behind thousands mobile apps worldwide.The company’s investors include Founder’s Co-op, Foundry Group,, True Ventures and Verizon. Urban Airship is headquartered in Portland, Oregon with offices in San Francisco.
