Cisco has announced the intent to acquire privately-held Luxtera, a semiconductor company based in Carlsbad, Calif. that uses silicon photonics to build integrated optics capabilities.

Vendor revenue in the worldwide server market increased 37.7%, year over year to $23.4 billion during the third quarter of 2018 (3Q18), according to IDC.

Cisco is acquiring privately-held Duo Security. Under the terms of the agreement, Cisco will pay $2.35 billion in cash and assumed equity for the company.

According to the IDC worldwide quarterly security appliance tracker, the total security appliance market saw positive growth in both vendor revenue and unit shipments for the first quarter of 2018 (1Q18).
