Sumitomo selects AWS to drive its digital transformation

Sumitomo, a trading and investment conglomerate with operations in 66 countries, is working with Amazon Web Services (AWS) for digital transformation, as part of a multi-year initiative.

Sumitomo will migrate 16 groupwide, mission-critical systems to the cloud, including sales and accounting, shifting to SAP S/4HANA on AWS. Sumitomo will also be utilizing AWS machine learning to develop applications that measure blue carbon, aiming to lower carbon footprints for organizations in Japan, the companies said in a statement.

Sumitomo is collaborating with SCSK, an AWS premier consulting partner and a Sumitomo company for the transformation iniatiatives.

The partnership between Sumitomo and AWS dates back to 2017.
