SecondMarket Launches Bitcoin Investment Trust

secondmarket_bitcoinSecondMarket, an online marketplace for buying and selling illiquid assets, has launched a Bitcoin Investment Trust. The Bitcoin Investment Trust is a private, open-ended trust, invested exclusively in bitcoin. Minimum investment required is $25,000.

The trust was created for accredited investors looking for exposure to bitcoin through an investment vehicle as opposed to a direct investment, and solves the challenges of buying, storing and safekeeping bitcoins.

The sponsor of the trust is Alternative Currency Asset Management, a wholly owned subsidiary of SecondMarket Holdings.

The Winklevoss twins are also planning a bitcoin fund.
