Scalyr raises $20 million Series A round

Scalyr, a log management and server monitoring service, has raised $20 million in a Series A round. The investment was led by Shasta Ventures, with participation from earlier investors Bloomberg Beta, Susa Ventures and Heroic Ventures.

Scalyr customers include OkCupid, Zalando, Grab, CareerBuilder and Wistia, according to the company.

Incidentally, the founder and CEO of Scalyr is Steve Newman, whose previous company Writely was acquired by Google, and subsequently morphed to Google Docs. Scalyr cofounder Steven Czerwinski is also an ex-Googler.

Adobe has announced the passing of Dr. John Warnock, the co-founder of the company, who died at the age of 82. Dr. Warnock, along with Dr. Charles Geschke, co-founded Adobe in 1982.
