Rovio Acquires Futuremark Games Studio

Rovio Entertainment, creator of the Angry Birds games, have acquired Futuremark Games Studio, the gaming arm of benchmarking software developer Futuremark. Futuremark Games Studio is the second acquisition for Rovio in the past year, after the acquisition of Kombo Animation Studio last summer.

Futuremark has offices in Saratoga, California and Helsinki, Finland and is backed by a number of venture capital and investment firms. Futuremark Games Studio was formed in January 2008 to create original games with new and entertaining gameplay. The independent studio’s releases include Unstoppable Gorg for iPad, Mac and PC; Hungribles, a skill shot puzzle game for iPhone and iPad; and Shattered Horizon a zero gravity FPS for PC.
