Motorola Solutions secures five-year contract to maintain Portugal’s public safety communications network

Motorola Solutions has been awarded a five-year contract by the Portuguese Ministry of the Internal Administration to maintain and enhance Portugal’s mission-critical public safety communications network.

This agreement ensures 180 public safety agencies and 40,000 first responders, including police, fire, and medical services, have access to a modern, reliable, and secure TETRA communications network, according to Motorola.

The digital radio network, built and deployed by Motorola Solutions and operated by SIRESP (Sistema Integrado de Redes de Emergência e Segurança de Portugal), supports vital communications for public safety organizations during both day-to-day operations and emergencies, such as wildfires, floods, and rescue missions.

As part of the contract, Motorola Solutions will provide a suite of public safety services for SIRESP, including 24×7 local support, technical consultancy services, and assistance in keeping the technology up-to-date, secure, and reliably functional during any situation or emergency.
