Mentor Graphics Releases UML Editor

[Techtaffy Newsdesk]

Mentor Graphics is releasing its proprietary front-end UML editor to the open source domain, accessible as a free download from xtUML.org.

The editor was formerly part of the company’s BridgePoint xtUML environment.

The xtUML editor is a gateway to platform-independent modeling and the starting point for a model-driven development methodology. xtUML adds execution and translation capabilities to UML.

The code available from xtUML.org includes an xtUML meta-model, an xtUML model of the BridgePoint environment, and the Java source that interfaces with the Eclipse environment, upon which the BridgePoint environment is built.
