Images From The Minutes Leading Up To The IPO

Every few months Facebook has a hackathon, where everyone builds prototypes for new ideas they have. At the end, the whole team gets together and looks at everything that has been built. Facebook decided to celebrate its IPO, by what else, hosting a Hackathon.

Glimpses from the social network’s Menlo Park headquarters, of the minutes leading up to the IPO.

Zuckerberg flashes a grin. Not only will the new CEO not be donning a suit, he will ring the Nasdaq bell remotely from the company’s Menlo Park, California headquarters. The Nasdaq CEO will come down to join him. [Image Courtesy: Francis Luu / Facebook]

Many of Facebook’s most successful products came out of hackathons, including Timeline, chat, video, the mobile development framework and some of the social network’s most important infrastructure like the HipHop compiler. HipHop for PHP is a source code transformer for PHP script code, incase you were wondering. [Image Courtesy: Francis Luu / Facebook]
