IBM To Spend $2.1B To Expand Cloud Services Business

IBM says it plans to commit over $1.2 billion to expand its global cloud business. The investment includes a network of cloud centers.

IBM also plans to establish SoftLayer as the foundation of its cloud portfolio, says the company. IBM acquired SoftLayer, a privately-held cloud computing infrastructure provider, in June last year, forming a new cloud services division around the same time.

IBM currently has more than 100 cloud SaaS solutions, and a network of 40 data centers worldwide.
