IBM Snags Shared Services Canada Data Center Deal

IBM will be providing and managing enterprise data centre space as part of the Canadian government’s data centre consolidation initiative for Shared Services Canada. The Government of Canada created Shared Services Canada on August 4, 2011, to managethe Canadian government’s IT infrastructure.

Shared Services Canada reports to the Canadian parliament, and is mandated to deliver email, data centre and telecommunication services to 43 federal departments and agencies. Its total budget for 2012-13 was roughly $1.7 billion.
