bluebox

IBM has acquired Blue Box, a managed private cloud provider built on OpenStack. Blue Box is privately-held and based in Seattle. Financial details of the deal were not disclosed.

The acquisition will enable it to deliver a public cloud-like experience within the client’s own data center, said IBM in a statement. IBM also said it currently plans to continue to support Blue Box clients.

IBM total cloud revenue — covering public, private and hybrid engagements —was $7.7 billion over the previous 12 months at the end of March 2015; it grew more than 60 percent in first quarter 2015.
