AWS, Salesforce expand strategic partnership

Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Salesforce announced an expansion of their global strategic partnership, deepening product integrations across data and artificial intelligence (AI), and for the first time offering select Salesforce products on the AWS Marketplace.

Key takeaways from the partnership include:

  • Amazon Bedrock Support: Salesforce will integrate with Amazon Bedrock, a service providing access to foundation models (FMs) from AI companies via a single API. This integration will be available through the Einstein Trust Layer in Salesforce, enhancing AI-driven applications and workflows.
  • Salesforce Data Cloud Expansion: The Data Cloud will now support additional AWS technologies, allowing for broader data sharing capabilities. New centralized access controls will govern these integrations, offering secure user access management at various levels for Data Cloud content stored in Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3).
  • Enhanced AWS Utilization by Salesforce: Salesforce plans to extend its use of AWS services, including compute, storage, data, and AI technologies through Hyperforce, to improve services like Data Cloud.
  • AWS’s Use of Salesforce Products: AWS will integrate Data Cloud to develop a unified customer profile, aiming to deliver more personalized customer experiences.

New and enhanced integrations

  • Salesforce Products on AWS Marketplace: Salesforce will offer products like Data Cloud, Service Cloud, Sales Cloud, Industry Clouds, Tableau, MuleSoft, Platform, and Heroku on the AWS Marketplace. This provides AWS customers with a unified IT spend view, simplified procurement processes, and flexible options like private pricing.
  • Unified Data Management: Data Cloud will integrate with AWS data services, reducing the need for custom ETL pipelines and enabling faster insights and more powerful applications.
  • AI Services Integration with Einstein Platform: Salesforce’s Einstein 1 Platform will incorporate new solutions like Salesforce Prompt Builder to create custom prompt templates for FMs from leading AI companies.
  • Service Cloud and Amazon Connect Integration: Enhancements to this integration will include Amazon Connect Chat in Service Cloud Digital Engagement and forecasting, capacity planning, and agent scheduling features in Salesforce Service Cloud.
  • Heroku with AWS: Salesforce is redeveloping Heroku as a Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) layer for AI-first app development across Salesforce and AWS. This includes leveraging AWS’s advanced compute infrastructure for Heroku’s Dyno compute functionality.

Availability

The new product integrations are expected to be available in 2024, with select Salesforce products already available for purchase through the AWS Marketplace in the U.S. Expanded product and regional support is planned for 2024.
