GitHub’s $100M Investment Is Andreessen Horowitz Largest

[Techtaffy Newsdesk]

Social coding startup GitHub has received a $100 million investment from Andreessen Horowitz; valuing the company at a reported $750 million. This is the largest investment Andreessen Horowitz has made so far; this is also the four year-old startup’s first outside investment.

Tom Preston-Werner  (Founder and CEO, GitHub): Our company has been profitable for years, is growing fast, and doesn’t need money. So why bother?

Because we want to be better. We want to build the best products. We want to solve harder problems. We want to make life easier for more people.

GitHub is a collaborative platform that lets users share code and collaborate on projects, among other things. Over a million people use GitHub.
