Former Wired Editor Joins PCWorld

IDG Consumer & SMB (IDGCSMB), publisher of PCWorld, Macworld, and TechHive, has hired Jon Phillips as editor in chief of PCWorld.  Mr. Phillips will lead PCWorld under the direction of Jason Snell, recently named senior vice president and editorial director for IDG Consumer & SMB’s three media brands: PCWorld, Macworld, and TechHive.

PCWorld will have a sharper focus on the current and next generation of PCs and Windows-based technologies in the coming days, and the site is relaunching next month with a  redesign that takes advantage of the latest in Web standards and multimedia capabilities across desktop, tablet, and mobile platforms, says IDGCSMB.

Jon Phillips (Editor-in-Chief , PCWorld): The PC platform is entering a new renaissance — there’s an excitement surrounding PCs that I haven’t seen since the late 90s when I started my career.

Mr. Phillips lives in San Francisco. He is a graduate of San Francisco State University.
