Ford and University of Michigan partner; automaker leasing robotics lab

Ford will lease the fourth floor of a planned robotics laboratory at the University of Michigan. The new laboratory is expected to have space where machines walk, fly, drive and swim, said the automaker in a statement. The building will also house labs, offices and classrooms.

Professors Matthew Johnson-Roberson and Ram Vasudevan will lead the autonomous vehicle research team, where Ford engineers are expected to work together with students and professors of the university.

IBM to deploy next-generation quantum computer at RIKEN in Japan

IBM has announced an agreement with RIKEN, a Japanese national research laboratory, to deploy IBM's quantum computer architecture and quantum processor at the RIKEN Center for Computational Science in Kobe, Japan.
