Facebook Buys Company Founded By Former Apple MobileMe Guy

Strobe, a software and cloud services company focused on the mobile Web, has been acquired by Facebook. Charles Jolley, founder and CEO of Strobe made this announcement in the company’s blog.  Strobe was founded by Jolley, also the the creator of the SproutCore open source framework, after he left Apple,  where he was responsible for Mobile Me application development. Strobe was founded on the belief that HTML5 can transform the way average people use their mobile phones, via apps that are available everywhere, anytime, and on any device. “For now, the Strobe service will continue to be available to existing users in its existing beta form,” says Jolley.

Strobe investors include O’Reilly Alphatech Ventures and Hummer Winblad Venture Partners.
