Dell, Microsoft Sign Android, Chrome OS, Xbox Tech Licensing Deal

Xbox

Microsoft and Dell have inked a patent licensing agreement, under the terms of which the two companies will be licensing the other’s applicable intellectual property, related to Android and Chrome OS devices and Xbox gaming consoles. Microsoft and Dell have also agreed on royalties for Dell’s products running the Android or Chrome platforms and on consideration to Dell for a license for Xbox gaming consoles.

In theory, this paves the way for possible Dell-branded Xbox consoles. What could also happen, and is perhaps more likely to happen, is that Dell will incorporate bits and pieces of Xbox technology (like motion sensing) into its computers.

Microsoft and Dell have a thirty-year business relationship.
