Cohesity appoints Dr. Craig Martell as CTO

Cohesity has announced the appointment of Dr. Craig Martell as its new chief technology officer (CTO).

In this role, Dr. Martell will shape the company’s technical vision, incorporating industry and customer trends to define and execute a strategic roadmap for the company’s future, Cohesity said in a statement.

Dr. Martell was most recently the chief digital and artificial intelligence Officer (CDAO) for the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD). Prior to joining the DoD, Dr. Martell held senior roles at several technology companies. At Lyft, he served as head of Machine Learning, designing and building a Machine Learning (ML) Platform. From 2018 to 2020, he was head of Machine Intelligence at Dropbox, responsible for all machine learning, including vision-setting, analytics, and communication of ML strategy across the organization. He also led AI teams and initiatives at LinkedIn.

Dr. Martell was a tenured computer science professor at the Naval Postgraduate School, specializing in natural language processing.
