Codeacademy Raises $10M Series B Financing

Codecademy has closed a $10 million Series B round of financing from Index Ventures and Kleiner Perkins. Union Square Ventures, Yuri Milner and Richard Branson also participated in the round.

Codeacademy was launched in August last year by Zach Sims and Ryan Bubinski. Since then, hundreds of thousands people are getting free programming lessons sent to them each week. Codeacademy reaches millions of students in more than one hundred countries. More than 50% of Codecademy’s users are outside of the US.
