Cisco, Facebook Collaboration Lets Users Get Free WiFi On Check In

facebook_cisco_free_wifiChecking in to Facebook may soon earn you free Internet access. Cisco is partnering with the social networking giant to provide free wifi to users who check in at select shops and outlets worldwide as part of a pilot project. Called the Connected Mobile Experiences (CMX) for Facebook Wi-Fi, the new solution will be rolled across some of the world’s top brands in retail, hospitality, and other markets, says Cisco.

Once checked in, the user is directed to the Facebook page of the business. Businesses get to target customized promotions, and get a better understanding of their customers through demographical data and analytics; users get free wifi.

The CMX for Facebook wifi solution is built on top of Cisco’s Unified Access architecture.
