Barclays Wins Multiple IT Security Awards

Barclays received top honours in three categories at the 2012 SC Magazine Awards Europe: Information Security Project, Team and Person of the Year.

The award for Information Security Project of the Year recognises the Information Risk Management (IRM) team’s Faking It campaign, which raised awareness of the issue of telephone phishing attacks. The IRM team visited contact centres in the UK to film and produce a series of  videos featuring 120 contact centre agents who showed off their acting skills, playing out scenarios of fraudsters impersonating customers. The campaign helped to change behaviors among contact centre employees, says Barclays.

The award for Information Security Team of the Year went to Barclaycard’s Global Payment Acceptance Payment Security team. The team was acknowledged for their initiatives to raise awareness of information security best practice and compliance among their 100,000-strong portfolio of merchants. This is the first time the award has been won by the same team two years in a row.

Neira Jones, Barclaycard Head of Payment Security, won in the Information Security Person of the Year category. Ms. Jones was recognised for her outstanding contribution to the payment security sector.
