Baidu Signs Mobile Photo Sharing Deal With Cooliris

coolirisChinese search giant Baidu is collaborating with Palo Alto, California-based company Cooliris, to bring mobile photo sharing services to its 100 million users. Baidu released the Cooliris app for iPhone and iPad last week. The Cooliris app is localized in simplified and traditional Chinese.

Hou Zhenyu (Chief Architect, Baidu Cloud, Baidu): Baidu offers a terrific way for international developers to reach China’s fast-growing mobile Internet market, and working with a leading Valley company like Cooliris will help us build an open cloud ecosystem that extends beyond China.

Cooliris also has partnerships with Tencent Weibo, China’s largest microblogging site, and Chinese social networking behemoth Renren. “Our partnerships in China have given our users greater access to amazing, localized content and have given us a 50x increase in mobile user acquisition in China,” said Soujanya Bhumkar, Cooliris CEO and co-founder, talking about the Baidu partnership.
