Amazon Buys Gaming Video Platform Twitch

Amazon has reached an agreement to acquire Twitch Interactive for $970 million. Twitch provides a  live video platform that lets gamers watch and broadcast video game play. The site Twitch.TV is extremely popular with gamers, with more than 55 million unique visitors viewing over 15 billion minutes of content in July.

The acquisition is expected to close in the second half of 2014.
