Database Vendor Actian Acquires ParAccel

Database vendor Actian has acquired ParAccel, an analytics company that has Amazon as both investor, and customer. The size of the transaction was not shared.

Apart from Amazon, ParAccel is used by The Royal Bank of Scotland, OfficeMax and MicroStrategy, says its CEO, Chuck Berger. Joint customers of Actian and ParAccel already use a combined solution set, as well.

ParAccel investors include Amazon, MDV, Bay Partners, Walden International, Tao Venture Partners, and Menlo Ventures.
