Accenture Hires Former HP Labs Director

Accenture has hired technology veteran Prith Banerjee as managing director of Global Technology Research & Development within the company’s Technology Growth Platform.

In his new role, Mr. Banerjee will oversee the Accenture Technology Labs, the global technology R&D organization within Accenture, and will direct Accenture’s annual Technology Vision research, which looks at the future of enterprise IT.

Mr. Banerjee joins Accenture from ABB Group, where he served most recently as chief technology officer and executive vice president, leading both corporate strategy and the divisional technology organization, which includes more than 8,000 scientists and engineers in seven ABB Research Centers around the world.

Before going to ABB, he was senior vice president of research at Hewlett Packard, where he helped develop technical strategies for the company. He was also director of HP Labs, the company’s central research organization, leading a group of 500 researchers.

Mr. Banerjee began his career in academia and spent more than two decades in leadership positions at higher learning institutes, including serving as Dean of the College of Engineering at the University of Illinois at Chicago and the Walter P. Murphy Professor and Chairman of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Northwestern University.

Mr. Banerjee holds a bachelor of technology degree in Electronics and Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology in Kharagpur, India, and master’s and doctorate degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
