40 Million Windows 8 Licenses Sold, Says Microsoft

[Techtaffy Newsdesk]

Microsoft has sold 40 million Windows 8 licenses. Not only that, Windows 8 is outpacing Windows 7 in terms of upgrades.

The company had released Windows 8 just a month ago.

Tami Reller (Chief Marketing Officer and Chief Financial Officer, Windows, Microsoft): The journey is just beginning, but I am pleased to announce today that we have sold 40 million Windows 8 licenses so far.

The launch of Windows 8 at the end of October had also seen the grand opening of the Windows Store apps store. Since then, the number of apps in the Windows Store has doubled, says Microsoft. A number of apps in the Windows Store have crossed the $25,000 revenue mark.

The announcements were made by Ms. Reller at a technology conference.
