IBM Investing $1B In Flash Technology R&D

IBM is investing $1 billion in research and development to design, create and integrate new Flash solutions into its portfolio of servers, storage systems and middleware.

Ambuj Goyal (General Manager, Systems Storage, Systems & Technology Group, IBM): The economics and performance of Flash are at a point where the technology can have a revolutionary impact on enterprises, especially for transaction-intensive applications. 

IBM also plans to open 12 Centers of Competency around the globe. The centers will enable clients to run proof-of-concept scenarios with real-world data to measure projected performance gains with IBM Flash solutions.  IBM is currently targeting Centers of Competency in China, France, Germany, India, Japan, Singapore, South America, and U.K. and the U.S.
