FreedomPop Raises $5M

FreedomPop has closed an additional $5 million in funding from existing investors DCM Capital and Mangrove Capital, in an A1 round.

Nextel co-founder Chris Rogers is joining FreedomPop as a board advisor.

The investment brings FreedomPop’s total funding to $16 million.

Founded in 2011 and headquartered in Los Angeles, FreedomPop is a telecom company backed by Skype Founder Niklas Zennstom’s Atomico, Mangrove Capital, and DCM.

FreedomPop offers users 500MB of free Internet per month, over Clearwire’s 4G WiMax network.
