Red Hat has named Matt Hicks as its president and chief executive officer.

SolarWinds, a provider of IT management software, has appointed Dennis Howard, executive vice president and chief information officer for Schwab Technology Services, Charles Schwab, to its board of directors.

IBM is acquiring Red Hat for $34 billion, the companies said on Sunday. IBM intends to close the transaction through a combination of cash and debt.
