Panasonic, Samsung, SanDisk, Sony, Toshiba To Collaborate On Memory

Panasonic, Samsung, SanDisk, Sony, and Toshiba will collaborate on the “Next Generation Secure Memory Initiative” (tentative name). The ‘Next Generation Secure Memory Initiative’ will license and promote HD-capable security for SD Cards and embedded memory for use in advanced consumer applications such as tablets and smartphones.

Adoption of flash memory products and various embedded flash memory solutions using this technology is expected to be available in 2012.
