Mode raises $16 million

San Francisco-based software-defined core network company Mode has closed a $16 million Series B funding round. The investment was led by GV, with an additional grant from the National Science Foundation.

Mode, founded by two Cornell computer scientists Dr. Nithin Michael and Professor Dr. Kevin Tang, also emerged from stealth on Thursday to introduce a private core network for the enterprise. 

Mode had previously raised $8 million in Series A funding from NEA last year.

San Francisco-based network detection and response (NDR) company Corelight has raised $150 million in a Series E funding round.

Island raises $175M

Dallas, Texas-based enterprise browser company Island raised $175 million in Series D funding, raising the company's valuation to $3 billion.
