Quantum computing company IonQ has launched its latest generation of quantum systems called Forte. Forte is a “software-configurable quantum computer”, which can be hardware optimized to run custom algorithms, says IonQ.
Forte has a capacity of up to 32 qubits. It features acousto-optic deflector (AOD) technology, which the company says can dynamically direct laser beams that drive quantum gates towards individual ions.
Forte will have a limited availability this year, and is expected to be generally available in 2023.
