Best Buy Founder Resigns

Best Buy founder  Richard Schulze has resigned from the board,  including the chairmanship. The resignation comes early; Mr. Schulze was scheduled to assume the honorary position of founder and chairman emeritus at the company’s annual meeting later this month. Mr. Schulze was also expected to serve out the remainder of his term as director through June 2013.

Hatim A. Tyabji as steps in as chairman of the company, effective immediately. Mr. Tyabji, currently Chairman of the Audit Committee, has served as a director since 1998.
