3M will be launching a fully integrated interactive Virtual Presenter in April for automotive dealerships. The company debuted its first fully integrated, interactive Virtual Presenter at the SXSW. Bill Hibbard (Business development manager, 3M): 3M’s new integrated, interactive virtual presenter provides the opportunity to capture data, generate leads, customize content and drive social engagement. The 3M Interactive Virtual Presenter combines several key 3M technology areas – light management, films, projection, touch systems and commercial graphics. The Virtual Presenter is made possible by 3M’s rear-projection film, which works like an optical lens. Millions of nano-sized glass beads focus the projected light so it exits at just one small point, while a black layer absorbs the ambient light — producing a high-contrast image with wide viewing angles.
MakerBot unveiled the MakerBot Digitizer Desktop 3D Scanner prototype at the SXSW currently under way in Austin, Texas. MarketPage has launched as a marketplace solution for Facebook Pages and hip-hop superstar Snoop Dogg is the first to use it. The Facebook app MarketPage is created by a San Francisco-based startup called Tinypay. MarketPage allows anyone to have a shop on their Facebook Page and invite others to sell there. Snoop Dogg announced his partnership with the start-up while performing at SXSW. Snoop will be the first to have his merchandise for sale on his "Snooper market."
The future of comic books involve tablets and augmented reality, says Marvel, at the SXSW currently being held in Texas. The initiatives are part of 'Marvel ReEvolution' where the company is bringing print and digital media together. Marvel Infinite Comics uses tablets and smartphones for comic book storytelling. The first comic released in this format will be Avengers Vs. X-Men #1 Infinite from creators Mark Waid and Stuart Immonen and available on April 4. Marvel Infinite Comics enhances the print versions with additional digital content.
