Yahoo Japan deploys Apstra AOS

Yahoo Japan has selected and deployed Apstra AOS intent-based distributed operating system in its production multi-vendor Clos data center network in November 2017.

Yahoo Japan required a data center network infrastructure and better network operations to support their big data requirements and network traffic.  The company selected and deployed Apstra’s AOS as the first commercial automation software ever deployed in the company’s network, according to a statement by the companies.

Key requirements for Yahoo Japan included:

  • Operate and manage the Clos fabric network that supports their Hadoop clusters (90 racks X 16 servers and thousands of nodes)
  • Deploy and replicate cross-platform telemetry services
  • Develop a multi-vendor network that is hardware-inclusive
Support Yahoo Japan’s new Big Data offerings, including the automation of Day 2 maintenance workflows and visibility to reduce Mean Time to Resolution (MTTR)

Big data and Hadoop are core technologies and strategic initiatives at Yahoo Japan, say the companies. The company’s multi-vendor Clos network infrastructure connects hundreds of servers supporting thousands of nodes dedicated to supporting Hadoop.
