Video distribution and content discovery platform Vemba raises $5 million

Toronto-based Vemba, a company that provides a video distribution and content discovery platform for publishers, has raised $5 million in series A funding from Upfront Ventures and Bertelsmann Digital Media Investments, with participation from the Enterprise Fund at the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation.

Vemba says it will use the funding to enhance its offering to publishers and producers, with planned product rollouts of additional social platforms, over-the-top (OTT) content technology, and streaming video. The company also plans to expand its offices in Toronto, Los Angeles and New York City.
