Twitter Introduces Two-Factor Authentication

Twitter_security

Twitter is introducing new security features to protect Twitter accounts against possible breaches.

The company is introducing two-factor authentication –  When users sign in to Twitter, there will be a second check, and users will be asked to register a verified phone number and a confirmed email address.

Jim O’Leary (Product Security Team, Twitter): Much of the server-side engineering work required to ship this feature has cleared the way for us to deliver more account security enhancements in the future.

This release is built on top of Twitter via SMS, so Twitter needs to be able to send a text to your phone before you can enroll in login verification.
