OkCupid’s CEO Donated To an Anti-Gay Campaign Too

OkCupid

Mozilla CEO Brendan Eich resigned after only two weeks of being CEO, following a controversy regarding a donation for the anti-gay Proposition 8 in 2008. Dating site OkCupid played an instrumental role in the ousting of Mr. Eich, when the site posted a message encouraging its members to switch from Firefox, because of Mr. Eich’s (alleged) anti-gay stance.

According to a report in Uncrunched, Sam Yagan, OkCupid’s co-founder and CEO, made a $500 donation to U.S. Congressman Chris Cannon in 2004. Uncrunched goes on to point out that among other things, Congressman Cannon voted for a ban on gay adoptions, supported a constitutional amendment defining marriage as man/woman only, and voted no on prohibiting job discrimination based on sexual orientation.
