Chinese internet giant Tencent has joined the Alliance for Open Media at the board level, the first tier of the organization, the Alliance said in a statement.
As a member, Tencent is expected to collaborate with AOMedia members, to advance open standards for media compression and delivery over the web.
Other board-level members of the Open Media alliance include Amazon, ARM, Cisco, Facebook, Google, Intel, Microsoft, Mozilla, Netflix, NVIDIA, and Samsung.
