Streamlit raises $21M

San Francisco-based open-source app framework company Streamlit has raised $21 million in Series A funding. The investment was co-led by GGV Capital and Gradient Ventures, with participation from Bloomberg Beta, Elad Gil, and Daniel Gross.

Glenn Solomon, managing partner of GGV Capital, and Anna Patterson, managing partner at Gradient Ventures, have joined Streamlit’s board.

Streamlit will use the capital investment to accelerate the development of its software, says the company.

Streamlit is building a framework that will make it easier for machine learning engineers and data scientists to build data apps in Python in hours, according to the company website. Its software has been used to build over 200,000 applications since being open-sourced eight months ago, says Streamlit.

Streamlit was founded in late 2018. The co-founders of the company Amanda Kelly, Thiago Teixeira and Adrien Treuile met in 2013 while working at Google X, said Streamlit in a statement.
