SAP, IBM extend collaboration to integrate Watson AI for enhanced productivity and insights

SAP has announced plans to incorporate IBM Watson technology into its solutions, offering AI-driven insights and automation across its product portfolio through an extended collaboration with IBM.

SAP will utilize IBM Watson capabilities to power its digital assistant in SAP Start, a unified entry point for cloud solutions, designed to boost user productivity with natural language capabilities and predictive insights.

The new digital assistant features in SAP Start will be extended across SAP solutions, helping managers and employees by automating common tasks and allowing them to focus on more strategic work, according to the companies. Customers are expected to benefit from AI and machine learning at the point of decision-making, extracting information from various data sources, and answering user questions across lines of business.

IBM’s AI technology, currently available in SAP Concur’s TripIt mobile app, assists nearly 13 million users in making travel choices with AI-derived weather insights. IBM Watson is  deployed by over 100 million users across 20 industries.

SAP and IBM Consulting support customers with 25 joint intelligent industry solutions based on IBM Watson capabilities and the SAP Business Technology Platform (SAP BTP). These solutions accelerate business transformation for industries such as retail, manufacturing, and utilities, enabling data-driven decision-making.

SAP and IBM are also collaborating on generative AI and large language models to deliver consistent continuous learning and automation based on SAP’s mission-critical application suite.
