Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) was awarded a prime contract by the United States Air Force (USAF) to provide design and engineering services in support of the Air Force Material Command (AFMC), and other agencies within the Department of Defense (DoD).  The multiple-award, indefinite-delivery-indefinite-quantity (IDIQ) contract has a five-year period of performance and a contract ceiling value of approximately $1.9 billion.

The AFMC conducts research, development, testing and evaluation, and provides the acquisition management services and logistics support necessary to keep Air Force weapon systems ready for war.  Under the contract, SAIC will provide design and engineering services as required, including  new design, technical documentation, technology refresh, diminishing material and manufacturing, environmental improvement, and productivity, efficiency and cost saving efforts.  SAIC is one of 26 prime contractors who will compete for task orders under the contract.
